The Three Kittens’ Fishing Adventure, Second Edition
About the Book
The three kittens story was inspired by actual events although some creativity was required to match the photographs with the story. The story of the kittens going on a fishing adventure is a useful tool to promote discussion amongst the children about what they like doing during the holidays and how to plan for a good outcome. As not everyone has the opportunity to have a holiday away from home, there are some ideas on the inside back cover to promote discussion on how to have a good holiday at home.

About The Three Kittens
The three kittens were given to us as their owner could not accommodate them. What a bundle of fun they were exploring, playing rough and tumble, racing around the house inside and out, scratching everything insight and making new friends. They loved to be brushed and patted at the end of their busy day before going to bed exhausted.
About the Book
The three little kittens may look cute and cuddly but when Richard takes them on a fishing trip they get into all sorts of mischief. Follow their exciting fishing adventure, delightfully captured by the photographs of Christine Johnston and friends.
Teacher Notes
Preschool
Many preschoolers will have pets at home. Prior to reading the book to the children, ask questions about the differences between kittens and cats. For example, what are some of the special needs a kitten will have as opposed to a mature cat. This might include litter training, food, and vet care. Discuss going on holiday and ask the children to tell the class about their experiences travelling in a car or plane. Read the story. Children will enjoy acting out the role of the three kittens.
Year One and Two
This book may be read to the class or individual as above. There are questions placed within the text to elicit the children’s responses.
Suggested follow-up activity – the children may be encouraged to write their own story of a naughty kitten. Beginning – describe the kitten (colour, long fur or short fur, describe whiskers ears etc). Middle -what naughty act did the kitten get up to. End – what happened next, who cleaned up the mess. The stories can then be illustrated. Children will enjoy acting out the roles of the three kittens. PDF version available to put up on the big screen for class presentations.
