Christine Johnston and Marilyn Bakker at St Ignatius School

Panther’s Garden Adventure was the first in a series of books to be published this year by keen hobby photographer and cat rescuer, Christine Johnston, with assistance from Arthur Publishing House.

Panther’s Garden Adventure was followed closely by Mr Bo Jangles’ Tree Top Adventure, Jimmy’s Secret Waterfall Adventure and The Three Kittens’ Fishing Adventure.

The stories, written by Christine with fellow author, Marilyn J. Bakker, follow the photographed antics of the various cats and kittens that Christine cares for.

When asked what inspired her to create the rescued cats series, Christine explained that she lives with the cats at the rescue centre where cats of all ages arrive from around the country under many different circumstances.

Print House have been easy to work with and gave excellent and prompt service. They provided helpful solutions in the initial stages so that the books are of a good standard and suitable to be handled by young children. We are very pleased with the bright colours and quality of print which appeals to the younger audience. – Christine Johnston, Author

“I enjoy capturing the antics of the cats on camera. This in turn encouraged me to develop stories around the photographs which reflect the individual and quirky character of each cat,” she said.

Christine went to say, “The books are proving to be popular in kindergartens and schools. Marilyn and I have been invited to schools to present the books to the children who have responded with great enthusiasm.”
